Work Still to be Done on LGBT Adoption in Florida

Dear Friend of NCLR,

Thanks to your help, the Florida ban on LGBT adoption was overturned on September 22, 2010. In fact, the court that overturned this hateful ban cited one of NCLR’s cases in their decision! We’ve come so far, but there is much work yet to be done.

We still need to raise awareness to protect this victory and defend against discrimination against all LGBT people who wish to adopt.

Next week, on January 21 and 22, our colleagues at the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida are hosting community-wide educational and training events in Key West to provide you with the history, knowledge, and skills to be advocates for our community.

Together we brought an end to this ban that was signed into law in 1977, the same year NCLR was founded. Together we are bringing hope to families and children in Florida.

No stopping us now,
